Rishan ran over to Tangie and dropped to her knees in front of her. Tangie noticed how hard Rishan was breathing and motioned for Elise to give her a bozzleberry. After chewing on the berry for a few moments, she stood and walked over to the middle of the courtyard. Tangie followed.

"Rishan, you made it to Thaslatten?" Tangie said.

"Yes. They are in trouble. Catmen and men in black armor, probably a thousand of them, have Thaslatten surrounded. We have been fighting them all day. Sir Clarebald sent me back here in hopes of getting help. He doesn't think they will be able to win the battle."

Tangie looked at Elise and Raanda.

"I like Clarebald, he is a friend. I will go to help," Raanda said.

"If there are a thousand soldiers surrounding Thaslatten, neither of us will make a difference," Sir Heward said. "But we must still try."

"At least get them out of there," Tangie said.

"We can't get them out of there. We must keep them from entering Thaslatten. The mage Kiol came to Clarebald in a vision, saying that the attackers must not make it inside the gates," Rishan said.

"Kiol? What does that old mage have to do with any of this?" said Sir Heward.

"He is there on behalf of Kathare. The Catmen of Kathare aren't involved with the Catmen that have aligned themselves with the attackers. He made himself appear to make sure Thidora doesn’t mistake Kathare as enemies."

"I’ve been to Kathare, a very nice place. Nice people, those Catmen," Shayla said.

"Kiol is a powerful mage, his summons could keep Thaslatten safe. How come he didn't lend a hand? That would really prove Kathare has nothing to do with this," Sir Heward said.

"He is in Kathare. His summons are only minor illusions from this distance. He can't summon anything tangible, anything that can fight," Rishan said.

Raanda looked at Shayla, and then her glove.

"You can bring him to Thaslatten," Raanda said.

"I have no idea where to find him."

"Bring Gefuse. He knows the king in Kathare. If Kiol is really representing Kathare, the king should know where to find him," Sir Heward said.

"Yes, I do. I can surely speak to the king, as we are decent friends. I’ve played many a game of Chookie with him, had many a pickleberry wine with him," Gefuse said.

Tangie looked at all the members that stood with her: Gefuse, Shayla, Raanda, Sir Heward, Rishan, and Elise.

"Okay. Gefuse, you pair up with Shayla. Shayla, make sure you teleport away if you see any signs of danger, first thing. You are not a warrior or a fighter. We don't expect you to be. Elise, Sir Heward, Raanda, you three come with me to Thaslatten. Rishan, find the rest of the residents here and free them. You have Partide Hold till I get back," Tangie said.

"Ha, you giving me orders now, Lady Tangie? I'm proud. And you outrank me these days," Sir Heward said.

"Sir Heward, I know that was your way of giving me your approval. I appreciate that," Tangie said.
